The Nation’s Youth have been urged to take an active role in the fisheries sector.
Speaking at a recent ceremony, Minister of Agriculture, Saboto Caesar, acknowledged the aging population of fisher folk, underlining the importance of engaging younger generations to ensure the industry’s sustainability.
Minister Caesar explained that fishing can be a viable and lucrative career path for the youth of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
"And I want to use this opportunity to encourage the Youth of the country, when I look at the average age of a fisherman in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, we have to place programs and projects so that we can encourage the youngsters who are leaving the Technical College, the A Level College, the persons who are in our families to become involved in fishing. We are going to see over the coming weeks further production support."
