The members of the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) has been working assiduosly towards making St.Vincent and the Grenadines a safer and better place for all to live and enjoy.
The RRU was established in January 2002, and was based in the Calliaqua District. Later that year, the base was transferred to Prospect, before being relocated to Enhams in 2014. Six other branches have been established in the districts of Questelles, Owia, Bequia, Layou, Chateaubelair, and Union Island.
The Unit was established to among other things, carry out the following functions:
(1) Patrol the streets
(2) Respond to distress calls
(3) Carry out joint coastal patrols with the Coast guard
(4) Serve as back up forces for all sections of the Police Force and
(5) Drug eradication
Some of the entities served by the RRU are home owners, business places, churches, hotels, government departments, non-governmental organizations and financial institutions.
