The Royal St.Vincent and the Grenadines and the Grenadines Police Force has been working diligently to establish and create an effective framework to ensure that human trafficking does not take a foothold in our country. One of the initiatives taken to fulfil this task is the establishment of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Unit (ATIPU) of the Royal St.Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force.
The Anti-Trafficking in Persons Unit is one of the newest units of the Royal St.Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force. It was established on Wednesday, March 07th, 2012, by former Commissioner of Police, Mr.Keith Miller, and was officially launched on Friday, April 13, 2012. This is testament to the Government’s strong commitment towards preventing and detecting elements of human trafficking as well as prosecuting those involved in such criminal activity.
The office is located at the Questelles Police Station and is staffed by Superintendent of Police, Ms. Ruth Hazel-Ann Jacobs, Inspector of Police, Mr.Junior Simmons and Police Constable Garet Dopwell. The unit also deals with matters relating to Domestic Violence.
