The police in Barrouallie have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the occurrence of a fire on 24.10.21 which partially damaged an abandoned building that was used to process blackfish - located next to the Gas Station in Bottle and Glass, Barrouallie.
According to reports, the fire which was confined to the building was discovered about 12: 30 p.m. and was sustained by cardboard boxes and oil jugs that were stored inside.
The police at the Barrouallie Police Station responded to the fire and met the officer in charge of the Fire Department, Superintendent of Police, Mr. Joel James and other villagers at the scene extinguishing the fire with garden holes. Officers from the Fire Department later arrived on the scene and brought the fire under control at about 4:30 p.m.
There were no injuries sustained. The cause of the fire and the cost of the damage are unknown at this time.
The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) thanks members of the Barrouallie community who assisted with extinguishing the fire.
