The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), Rapid Response Unit (RRU) in Union Island conducted an operation at the wharf in Union Island and discovered a quantity of marijuana concealed in cornflakes boxes.
According to first-hand report, on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 members of the RRU were conducting searches at the wharf in Union Island. The searches revealed 6057 grammes of cannabis concealed in seven (7) cornflakes boxes on a boat. Derrick Abraham, 60 years old fisherman of Rose Bank/Grenada was arrested and charged in connections with the controlled drugs with intent to supply it to another. When cautioned, he initially said it was food stuff for his kids before later admitting to it being cannabis.
Abraham appeared before the Serious Offences Court where he pleaded guilty. He was fined $6667.00 and ordered to pay $1500.00 forthwith or three (3) months in prison. The balance of $5167.00 is to be paid by February 28, 2022 or six (6) months imprisonment.
